Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2013

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.The GATE committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and declaring the results GATE is conducted through the constitution of eight zones. The zones and the corresponding administrative institutes are:

Zone-1: Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru
Zone-2: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Zone-3: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
Zone-4: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
Zone-5: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Zone-6: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
Zone-7: Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Zone-8: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

The overall coordination and responsibility of conducting GATE 2012 lies with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, designated as the Organizing Institute for GATE 2012 .


Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other Government scholarships/assistantships in engineering colleges/institutes is open to those who qualify in GATE examination. GATE qualified candidates with Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture or Master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications are eligible for admission to Master's degree programmes in Engineering/Technology/Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science with MHRD or other government scholarships/assistantships. To avail the scholarship, the candidate must secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing procedure of the admitting institution. However, candidates with Master's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture may seek admission to relevant Doctoral programmes with scholarship/assistantship without appearing in the GATE examination.

GATE Online Applicant Interface


An online interface is provided for most of your interaction with the GATE office. With this interface you can
  1. Apply for the examination online 
  2. Upload photograph, signature, and supporting documents. 
  3. Make application fee payment through netbanking. 
  4. Check the status of your application form: Received, Under Scrutiny, Rejected after Scrutiny failed, Accepted after Successful Scrutiny, Admit Card Ready for Download, etc. 
  5. Contact the GATE office in case of any queries/problems (Grievance Redressal). 
  6. Download Admit Card. 
  7. View your answers, marks and GATE score. 
  8. Contact GATE for More Details 

The login to this interface is through your chosen email address and a password. Keep this information safe and do not disclose the email id and password to anyone.

    As you have said that you have not revived the mail of GATE 2013 after registration, please wait for 48-72 hours after the registration, Because of large volumes of Application it may take hours for receiving mail.

    Hi sir

    i tried calling for the helpline number of GATE but their is no response so please help me as soon as possible.

    am trying in submitting my gate application from my log in id since 5 days but am facing error at the end after pressing submit button i.e HTTP Status 500 – Stream closed

    as the last date is very near just 6 days pls anyone help me..

    sir....I forgot to upload my eligibility criteria along with the photo and signature.I have only the course completion certificate issued by the college and final year mark list containing the details of all the semesters as I am a B.Tech 2012 passedout.Is it necessary to have the provisional certificate ?
    Can i have an option to send the certificate along with the gate application printout by post?
    please do mention whether the course certificate that i have from college will go?Will my gate admit card be cancelled for the same?Plz do rpl...

    you must read the instructions carefully before applying GATE 2013,u must active in filling the form, as the Date of Expiry of GATE 2013 is near, it is very rush in the website,

    I suggest you PEOPLE TO LOG ON TO GATE 2013 WEBSITE IN MORNING 2-4am for getting good server response, SO THAT IN Morning, the website dont have any rush.

    status of my application is
    "Printed application has been received by GATE Office and the
    application is under Scrutiny."

    I am worried about my apllication. My friend who sent his application after me application status is "Accepted" and still my application status is "under scrutiny." Whats the problem in my form What to do sir?

    How much time it will take to
    get status "Accepted" and if there is anything which is not in order
    then how will I get informed and how much time it will take?
